FEEDdelaware exists with the basic commitment - that no one in our community should go hungry. For 11 years, FEEDdelaware has operated a food pantry and community meal to address hunger and food insecurity in the Delaware community. Through a healthy community meal, the distribution of shelf-stable groceries, fresh produce, frozen meats and household goods, FEEDdelaware provides a safety net of relief for those in situational or systemic poverty.

In 2020, FEEDdelaware responded to the Covid-19 crisis by increasing its hours and services which resulted in the distribution of more than 100 tons of food to families in our community. At its most basic level FEEDdelaware provides relief to families regardless of circumstances who are struggling to put food on the table. In partnership with the Hunger Alliance and other community partners, FEEDdelaware works to support those same families with empowering resources and, where necessary, works to identify and address systemic reforms that may benefit our guests and our larger community.

DISASTER RELIEF

Along with FEEDdelaware weekly distribution to community members, in 2020 FEEDdelaware also launched the Disaster Relief Distribution Center in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The DRDC serves as a centralized warehouse and pick-up site for many Hunger Alliance partners to access food supplies, PPE, personal hygiene and hard-to-get cleaning supplies. Weekly distribution to area agencies and food pantries has continued through 2021.

This community wide-solution led the Delaware County Emergency Management Association to identify FEEDdelaware as it’s partner for the county wide Emergency Master Plan. As an example, the DRDC, in the midst of Covid-19, was able to respond to the downtown floods in the Spring of 2020 with bleach, sanitizer, mops, and other supplies to support the clean-up needs of area business.
